"Gods of the Gullible" isn't an effort to antagonize your current belief system. It's an honest look at why we believe what we believe, and how to strengthen the critical thinking that leads to belief.
"Gods of the Gullible", perhaps a harsh, even clickbait-ish title, is by no means meant to imply that foolish people believe in god. The book proposes that Gullibility is a survival instinct we carry from birth, one that has likely saved our lives more than once. The metaphorical gods are people, causes, ideologies, or anything we elevate enough to validate our beliefs, bear the weight of our thoughts and choices, and most of all, give us the warm-fuzzy feeling of being right.
In "Gods of the Gullible", we'll discuss historical and current examples in which the innocent trait of human gullibility is repeatedly exploited by charismatic story-tellers with self-serving agendas.
Gullibility only appears when you smack your forehead with the palm of your hand, and realize you've been duped. Remember when you discovered that Santa Clause wasn't real or that Rolex watch you bought was fake? Someone told you it was real, and you bought it.
